A Sunny Top-Up

If the above appeals to you, and how could it not, then the Clare Valley, Adelaide Hills is for you.

Since the Clare Valley and surrounding areas were settled by Germans from the turn of the century, this area is the centre for Reisling Wine Production in Australia – that perfect chilled accompaniment to every sunny day in Oz.

The valley runs about 25km in length and a bicycle track has been made from the old railway line. Bikes can be hired at either end and along the way are some of Australia’s finest wine producers who welcome you in to sample their vintage and have a nibble along the way.

What sets The Clare Valley apart from other wine valleys in the region, is that these producers are all small independents, and the tour buses haven’t destroyed the ambiance yet, and they plan to keep it that way.

Oh, and there are no traffic cops on the cycle route, so drink up!
