Brighton up your stay on the south coast

Its image as a relaxed town populated solely by artists, DJs and students may be way off the mark, especially if you happen to hang around any of the estates that surround it, but it's still a pretty great place to go out and be social. Athough don't ask any Londoners who have been denied entry to a club because they didn't live in a BH postcode area what they think of the place.

More than just the clubbing and the boozing, Brighton is a place where you can spend a proper long weekend strolling, shopping and relaxing, as well as all the hardcore partying. But where to stay, and more importantly, go?

As hotels go, I personally really liked the Hotel Pelirocco in Regency Square. It's a brilliant boutique hotel housed in a building that dates back to 1840, right near the seafront and in the centre of town, right near the best shopping area. The rooms are all themed, with prices varying substantially between them. Top tip form the top though; for a dirty weekend away make sure you book the Absolut Love room. At £160 a night it's not cheap, but it's really really ace.

As for clubbing, well things change so often down there it's hard to keep up, but the Concorde2 on the promenande is my own personal favourite, being the sort of eclectic cool cat that I am. Ya dig?
