Bruges city breaks

Bruges with its medieval architecture, pretty cobbled streets, museums and galleries, including the Choco Story Museum, dedicated to the making of Belgian chocolate, is the perfect destination for a short city break.

To reach Bruges by air, you can fly into Brussels airport which is located approximately 68 miles to the east of Bruges. You can fly to Brussels from the UK with low cost airlines including Ryanair and Flybe, or with BA with fares starting at 59GBP one way. From the airport you can get the Belgian National Railways to Brussels Central Station and then an express service to Bruges. Trains are frequent and very efficient and the total journey time from Brussels airport to Bruges is around 90 minutes. Single standard tickets cost 16EUR, but during the summer months you can get a special summer ticket for only 9,50EUR.

From London you can also reach Bruges by train with the Eurostar service, changing in Brussels. Eurostar trains are air conditioned and have comfortable seats each with a footrest and a reading lamp. Trains depart from London St Pancras International station and the journey to Brussels Midi station takes a mere 2 hours. Tickets can be purchased online and prices start from 89GBP one way.
