Cheap flights to Madeira

Madeira International Airport is located 10 miles from Funchal, the capital of Madeira. There are frequent public bus services from the airport to Funchal, and a single ticket costs just under 3EUR. There is also an Aerobus service which runs between the airport and Funchal and tickets cost 5EUR one way and 7,50EUR return. This service is free of charge for TAP passengers.

Not many airlines fly to Madeira from the UK; BA for example don’t reach the Portuguese island. Despite that, flights to Madeira are not difficult to find, especially during the hottest months and, thanks to the low cost companies reaching the island, you can get hold of some very good deals.

Jet2 fly to Madeira from Leeds Bradford and Manchester airports; Easyjet fly there from Bristol, London Gatwick and London Stansted airports with fares starting at around 25GBP one way in low season. And there’s also TAP Portugal, the national airline, with fares for flights from London starting at around 160GB return. The approximate flight duration from London to Madeira is 3 hours 40 minutes.
