Discover the beauties of Tuscany

If you’re heading to Tuscany, you have to spend at least one day in Florence. This city, considered the Jewel of the Renaissance, has so much to offer, it can’t be missed. Florence’s top attractions include Piazza Duomo with the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, Giotto’s Bell Tower, Palazzo Vecchio and, of course, the Uffizi Gallery, one of Italy’s finest museums of art, with most major Italian artist represented.

Another city you don’t want to miss whilst in Tuscany is Siena, an enchanting medieval hill town with so much to do and see. Siena is located about 60km south of Florence, and you can reach it by bus or train. Top attractions in Siena include Piazza del Duomo, Fonte Gaia, the art museum Pinacoteca Nazionale and Piazza del Campo, the heart of the town, famous for its unusual fan shape and the summer horse-race, known as Il Palio.

Don’t forget a trip to Pisa during your holiday in Tuscany. Renowned for the famous Piazza dei Miracoli with its Leaning Tower and the large Duomo. Pisa is about 80km from Florence to which it is linked by frequent bus and train services. Trains from Florence to Pisa take about one hour and tickets cost around 6EUR one way.
