Ferry ‘cross the Mersey

big It may be that you are just off to the Isle of Wight for the day or you may be going further afield – France, Holland or Spain. Britain has many ports from which you can take the ferry to a variety of destinations.

If you are sure of your sea legs you can take the ferry from Holyhead or Stranraer to Ireland. The Irish Sea is known for its unpredictability: calm as a mill pond one minute and choppy as anything the next, but it’s a real feeling of adventure to embark upon your journey at the docks and roll off at the other end.

Ferry travel is often much cheaper than going by air and has the added benefit of being able to take your car with you. This again cuts down the cost of having to hire a car at the other end, assuming you are happy to drive on the other side of the road!
