Flights of Nancy

But forget the traditional sites of Paris, the rough and ready Marseille or the monied Riviera, I want to take you to Nancy, and I don't mean some stick thin Parisian socialite.

Nancy is in the east of France, not far from the border with Germany and is well known for it's links with the Art Nouveau movement. It's also home to some beautiful architecture, like Place Stanislas in the centre of town, which is just about the most perfect pace for a romantic stroll there is, and there are also some cracking museums. My personal favourites were the Musee de l'Ecole de Nancy, which showcases architecture form the school of Nancy, and the Montet Botanical Gardens on the outskirts of Nancy.

After you've taken in all the sites Nancy has to offer, get your self ready for some hot brasserie action at L'Excelsior on rue Henri-Poincaré, parallel to Rue Stanislas. It's a classic French experience, and well worth taking a couple of hours to just take in. Just make sure you book in advance, or you'll have no chance of getting a table.
