City breaks are the obvious choice for a long weekend away. There are so many romantic cities within easy reach of the UK: many European cities are within a flight time of three hours making them an ideal short break destination. Barcelona, Paris and Rome are perhaps the most romantic cities that spring to mind but what about Prague, Oslo or Madrid. You could even stay in the UK and head to a new city, exploring it together and creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Valentine’s Day is big business commercially. As a result, most of the tour operators, hotels and holiday companies are offering great deals on Valentine’s Day breaks. Since 14th February falls on a Saturday this year you can bet your bottom dollar that people will be booking time off work and looking for a bolthole for them and their loved one.

By going direct to the hotels themselves you may often find that you can get a better deal than if you book through a tour operator or agent making it well worth the extra leg work. If you really don’t have time to do this however, you should get a good deal through a travel company.
