Madeira is one of those truly beautiful places which you really have to see to appreciate. It has a great culture with picturesque landscapes and long sandy beaches. There is a largely Iberian influence on the island and the climate is warm enough to provide a good alternative to some of the more popular resorts during the summer months.

Madeira Airport, also known as Santa Catharina Airport is the main point of entry for flights into Madeira. Thomas Cooke and Thompson Airways also offer flights from the UK and their websites are also worth checking out.

Madeira Airport is about 30 minutes from Funchal and is well served by public transport when you arrive. If you can why not visit the Levadas, an amazing system of aqueducts dating back over a century and built to bring water from the mountains down to the flat land. Also worth a visit is the Jardim do Monte Palace, the gardens at the former Monte Palace hotel. Madeira is really a beautiful island and flights to Madeira are well worth some consideration in planning your summer holidays.
