Madeira Holidays

Madeira is part of a group of islands which are located in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Portugal. The island is about four hours flight from the UK and offers tourists an alternative to the more popular destinations of the Canaries. The island has a very agreeable climate ranging from around 15 to 25 degrees all year round.

In the East of the Island you can visit the picturesque nature reserve at Ponta de São Lourenço. Alternatively, many tourists enjoy the fantastic water sports and scuba diving which the island has to offer. The island is also not without its sites. The amazing aqueduct system to bring water all around the island is worth seeing and the gardens at the Monte Palace are also worth a visit.

If you want to visit some of the other islands, this can be a great day trip and ferries travel between Madeira and Porto Santo, the other populated island only two hours away by boat which has a lovely quieter beach community. With excellent beaches and great accommodation on offer, tourists should not find it hard to find some truly excellent places to eat and drink. Just don’t forget to try a glass of Madeira, the island’s famous fortified wine!
