Make your stay in Rome a light one on your credit card We have given you a packed schedule for Rome, haven't we? Yes we have. So no doubt you're going to be so knackered from all that walking about that you're going to want to have a decent hotel to sooth your aching bones. That's where I come in, right? Sort of. Seeing as I live here I don't have much call for hotels, but as you can imagine there are a load of places to stay. My personal tip would be not to book anywhere around the Vatican, as you'll be close to all the expensive tourist shops and restaurants (with vastly inflated prices) and flooded by God-bothering traffic. It's not good for an atheists constitution, I tells ya. My recommendation for those who want to stay in town is Hotel Paba on Via Cavour, practically on top of the Colosseum and the Forum. You're looking at €70 a night for a decent double room, which considering the location is absolutely amazing value for money. It's clear they're not spending any extra cash on their website, but the staff speak good English and are very attentive. Don't be put off by the slightly ropey looking outside and you'll be very happy indeed.
