The second most populated city in Australia, Melbourne is located on the bay of Port Phillips and is one of the major destinations for visitors to Australia. There is a good reason for this as Melbourne is a beautiful city with a very relaxed atmosphere and is highly popular with both tourists and locals alike.

Also known as Tullamarine Airport, Melbourne Airport is the main airport serving the city of Melbourne. It is the second busiest airport in Australia and is located just 14 miles outside the city itself. Direct flights can be expensive but there are some good offers on direct flights from the UK with Quantas, one of the largest carriers in Australia. Jetstar Airways also provide a number of good options on flights within Australia and their website is worth a look for locating indirect flights into Melbourne. Many of the international flights operate through Hong Kong and Los Angeles.

Once you arrive in the airport, there are regular busses into the city and a great taxi service. You are well advised to wander around the Docklands area of the city, an entirely new district which is particularly picturesque at night. Alterntaively try the Eureka Tower, the tallest residential building in the southern hemisphere, which great views of the entire city.
