Northern Ireland Holidays

In times gone by 'Northern Ireland' wasn't exactly renowned as a top notch holiday destination. Thankfully, though, that has changed. Holidaymakers now flock to the Northern region in their droves to discover a true taste of Ireland with a varied history to boot. The capital city of Northern Ireland - Belfast, is located on the river Lagan at the tip of Belfast Lough. This buzzing city has bags to offer in the way of shopping, drinking and gastronomic delights. Belfast's international food scene is renowned as one of the most exciting in Northern Europe. But apart from eating and drinking, what is there to do? Take a guided tour around Belfast and see many of its famous murals for one. The remnants of the civil war have been preserved as works of art themselves. Tourists are often astounded at the intricacy of the works.

No trip to Belfast would be complete without a visit to the Giant's Causeway in Co. Antrim. 38,000 hexagonal basalt columns formed by volcanic flow loom out of the sea, making this amazing area one of the most stunning attractions in the world.

Take a trip to County Down. Visit the silent Valley in the mysterious Mountains of Mourne. There are realms of castle and museums in this country to really bring history to life.

And after all that, what else to do than batten down the hatches and sink a Guinness or two in a nice old Irish pub. Ah, Ireland.
