English Country Cottages is possibly one of the largest such companies. We have used them several times and always been blown away by the quality of the accommodation. The word “cottage” can be misleading as some of the properties available can sleep up to twenty people. All are clean, very well furnished, comfortable and fully equipped. The ratio of bathrooms to beds is always good and you can find plenty of properties that welcome dogs as well. They are even offering a special 20% discount off the cost of selected properties. It is also possible to rent cottage complexes – perfect if you are planning on going away in a group.

Smaller, independent companies also offer great quality accommodation at very reasonable prices. We particularly like the two fishing lodges at Rumburgh Farm. Set in north Suffolk the farm is perfectly situated for RSPB bird reserves, delightful countryside walks or to visit the historic city of Norwich.
