Treat your loved one to a Venice city break

Venice is a city that can be enjoyed all year round. April to October are the busiest months of the year for Venice, and finding a hotel can be a bit tricky. Also be prepared for queuing outside museums and popular sites if you go around that time of the year. Carnival, in February, also gets extremely busy, so if you’re thinking of going then, make sure you book your accommodation well in advance.

It’s true that Venice can be very expensive, depending on the time of the year and the hotel you pick. There are several top class hotels, with rooms overlooking the Grand Canal beautifully adorned with fine antique furnishings, where rates for a double room start from over 350GBP per night. But there are also many affordable midrange hotels as well as very reasonable and pretty B&Bs with prices ranging from as little as 35GBP up to 130GBP per double room, per night.

The most well-known travel reservation websites offer flight + hotel combinations, for under 400GBP per person for a 4 night stay. So make sure you have a look before you book.

If you’re planning a short break in Venice, bear in mind that some sites, restaurants and shops close on Sundays and Mondays.
