Tuscany holidays

In the heart of the most beautiful part of Italy is the wonderful region of Tuscany. It has been said that rather than take a photo of this stunning landscape all one needs to do is stare into some of the works of Michelangelo or Donatello, because so much of the scenery has remained unchanged over the last 500 years.

There are many places immersed in beauty and tranquility to visit during your holiday in Tuscany. The delightful medieval city of Siena is highly recommended to all first time visitors to Tuscany. The city retains a semi-rural ambience with its cobbled streets spiraling towards the main 'Campo' where the Palio horse race is held twice a year.

There is also, of course, Chianti, the superb wine producing region of Tuscany which is extremely popular with British and American expats. Chianti is home to a large number of medieval towns such as Pistoia, Greve and Radda which are ideal for exploring and uncovering hidden gems from Italy's rich history.

Tuscany was considered by many to have been the heartbeat of the Renaissance period across Europe. It's impossible not to escape that fact while you're here and so many place simply have to be visited. The Abbazia dei San Galgano is a superb Gothic style building that every effort should be made to see if you find yourself in this wonderful part of the world.
