Officially known as the Arab Republic of Egypt, it is a country mostly in North Africa with just the Sinai Peninsula forming a bridge with Southwest Asia. It is therefore a transcontinental country and is considered to be a major power in North Africa, the Mediterranean region, Nile Basin, Islamic world and the Red Sea.

One of the oldest civilised countries, Egypt has just more than sea and sun to offer with a rich tapestry of history, culture and architecture to explore. The ancient Pyramids, the tomb of Tutankhamun as well as plenty of museums and galleries are must-sees.

The miles of golden coastline are of course a major attraction for visitors to Egypt along with the amazing facilities for diving, both beginner and advanced levels. Resorts are plentiful with accommodation and entertainment to suit everyone.

Flight time from London to Egypt is around four and half hours into Cairo, and the time difference is two hours ahead of GMT. Many of the budget airlines such as Easyjet, Ryanair and Flybe offer flights to Egypt as do the bigger airlines such as British Airways and Egyptair. There are always good deals to be had on fares thanks to the popularity of this destination.
