Whisk yourself off to Malta The other week I wrote about the former British territory of Malta, it's interesting and rather bloody history of occupation, resistance, occupation and resistance again, before finally gaining independence from us evil colonial monsters. That's the Brits by the way. I also told you about it's gorgeous Mediterranean climate, sandwiched as it is between Sicily and north Africa. But 'where to stay?' you ask. Well let me tell you. The Park Lane Aparthotel on Maskli Street on the Island of Malta is exactly the sort of place you want when booking a four star hotel. The service is first class (in fact the staff are some of the friendliest I have ever had the pleasure of being served by), the rooms are nicely understated and welcoming and the prices are very reasonable indeed; you'll have to request a quite directly, but you looking at almost as low as £70 a night for out of season stays. For that pitifully low sum of money, you get a gym and spa, a very cool indeed rooftop pool with fantastic views of the rest of the island, and a tidy little restaurant that goes by the name Smalts. You have to pay extra to eat there of course, but you not going to be spending a huge sum of money in there either. It's a bit out of the way in Qawra, but it's worth straying from Valletta to go there, I promise. |
