You could go all out for some winter sun and go to the other side of the world for an exotic warm destination. We love the idea of escaping to Australia and having Christmas on the beach. Flights can be a bit expensive as everyone else is doing the same thing but if you fly on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or New Year's Eve you may find that you get a cheaper deal. It is also much cheaper to holiday outside of the school winter break: this holds true regardless of your destination.

Alternativel, you could head for the snow and book a skiing holiday. There are lots of resorts across Europe to suit all levels of ability and budget and with any luck you will get lots of snow and sunshine at the same time.
